Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

So yesterday I thought that the snow was pretty awful when it took Kevin five hours to get home from work, but today is a different story. Kevin is working from home which is always great. Even though he is locked away downstairs it is still nice to have him home and to eat lunch together--also he snuck away for about thirty minutes to play in the snow with Mckinley this morning!

Since it started snowing yesterday Mckinely has been entranced by the pretty white flakes. We didn't go out in it yesterday because she has been battling a pretty bad runny nose, but today we bundled up and ventured out. And by bundled up I mean tights, socks, pants, long-sleeved shirt, hooded-sweatshirt, coat, vest, mittens and a hat. We didn't really anticipate much snow-play this year so Mckinley doesn't really have the proper snow attire. Oh well, she still had a blast. I had to bribe her with BBQ chips to come back inside! :)

At this point we were thinking those BBQ chips sounded pretty good....it was still a battle to get her in though. Hopefully the snow sticks around just a little bit longer so we can get some more play time in.

And a video too! (Don't mind the picture snapping in the background...I couln't miss a photo op!)

Bouncing Baby Boy!

Last week we had our big ultrasound and found out that this little babe is a boy! It was an extremely exciting day and we couldn't be happier. As I have said many times before, we would have loved to have another girl. Mckinley is amazing and sisters would have been fun to experience. At the same time however, Kevin and I both really wanted to be able to experience a boy too--and obviously Kevin is a little extra excited by this boy news! :)  It just seems so unreal that we are actually having a boy. It is almost like it is our first child again because boys and girls are so different. It was funny because throughout this pregnancy I was hoping for a boy, but I felt so guilty for feeling that way. I honestly would have been happy with a second girl, but the thought that I could have had even an ounce of disappointment, no matter how short lived it would be, was really unnerving to me. I had a feeling this baby was a boy though (I also felt that way with Mckinley too though so apparently my "feelings" don't really mean much). Really all I had to go on was that this pregnancy has been really different than with Mckinley. No we know though--BOY!!

So on to other exciting news...this little baby has a name! We had debated back and forth since almost the moment we found out I was pregnant. With Mckinley we knew what her name would be the day we had the ultrasound. With this baby it took us until the night of the ultrasound to really nail down what name we wanted. So, without further ado, this little baby will be Kyan Dane Hinton. The name Kyan because we love it and do not know anyone named Kyan, and Dane because it is a combination of both grandpa's middle names (Dean and Wayne). Hopefully other people like the name as much as we do, but really I don't care...we like it! :)

Kyan has brought on blog issue though---what to do about this blog name. I do not know if I really even thought about this issue when I originally named it, but it does now seem to present a problem. So sometime soon I will have to address this issue...stay tuned I guess!

And....here he is in black and white:

Also, here is a short video that I took at the ultrasound with my phone. You aren't suppose to bring in cameras, but when the tech was out of the room I stole this anyways! The video is a little weird since it is looking face on at the baby. It is also pretty cool though because you can watch him opening and closing his mouth--you can even see his tongue!

Halloween!!!

This Halloween was so much fun. Mckinley (while she still doesn't really get what the heck is going on) seemed to enjoy herself. She was also able to actually go trick or treating---well by "actually going" meant that she either slowly walked or was carried to a doorstep, stood next to her cousin, looked around at everyone thinking they were crazy, was forced to hold out her precious basket, then immediately removed whatever item was placed in her basket examined it and then handed it to mom. So yeah, I think she liked it! It was obvious however that to her the best part was being able to walk around the streets with tons of kids!

To our surprise though, she left her costume on all night and didn't protest once--head piece and all! So now I present to you our little elephant...the cutest one to ever exist!

"Trick or Treat"-- First stop was Papa Randy's. With no other kids in sight, she really had no idea what we were doing!

Papa...why don't you have a costume on?

Apparently, we are also practicing for Easter...unfortunately there was no candy in the bushes though.

Here was one of our first houses. What you find out as a parent trying to document this event is that you get a lot of pictures of the back of your child! Still cute! Look at her little tail! :)

We were getting pretty tired by this point...I mean we had been to like 10 houses by now. What little elephant wouldn't be pooped? Good thing we had daddy to carry us!
Kitty-cat mommy (minus the half-rubbed off nose) and Elephant Kinley had such a great time!!

I cannot believe how big she is getting. We had a blast with our family and made fun memories for Kinely...mommy and daddy also made out with quiet a loot of candy from our little elephant's basket!

And, just for reminiscing sake, here are some pictures of Kinely from her first Halloween last year....
