Salt Dough

A little while ago I was reading a fellow mommyblogger's blog and came across a recipe for homemade play-dough. It seemed super easy and I thought Mckinley would love it, so this morning Mckinley and I embarked on our effort to make homemade "salt dough". It was actually about the easiest thing in the world to make.

Mckinley was reallying into helping--she is becoming such a big kid these days. We mixed up all the ingredients and Kinley picked yellow as her color of choice. Then we cooked it up and we were ready to play! I honestly think Mckinley was more into the cookie cutters than the dough itself but we'll get there!

Here is the recipe in case you are interested in trying out your own salt dough:

2 C Flour
1 C Salt
4 tsp Cream of Tartar
2 C Water
1/4 C oil
Food Coloring

Combine all ingredients in a pot and cook on medium. Stir until it has lost it's glossiness. It will be lumpy at this point. Dump out and knead until smooth.

Apparently this stuff will last for almost ever in the fridge too!

Kyan's 2 Months Old!

Today Kyan is two whole months! I can't believe how fast time has gone. To celebrate the big day we went to the doctor. And along with getting our height and weight checked, we got some shots! Therefore some of our pics below are when Kyan was not feeling all that good. :(

Here is the update on Kyan stats:

Weight: 12 lbs 5 oz (75%)
Height: 23 3/4 in (80%)

Very healthy in all respects!

This last picture is post some Tylenol! :)

Some other updates on Kyan or things that I have been loving this month:

- He smiles all the time!
- Kyan found his voice on Mother's Day and has not stopped cooing at us since.
- Each morning we have special mom & son time before Mckinley gets up (or Dad and Mckinley on the weekends). I get tons of smiles and coos during this time. :)
- The beginning of playtime has started. Kyan lays on his play-mat and smiles sweetly at the lights and toys.
- He has really started to focus on faces. He will lock eyes with you and stare for what seems like forever.
- Still pretty mellow--crying infrequently.
- I think he has finally started to notice Mckinley. If she is near him when he is laying and playing he will turn his gaze to her direction and watch her for a little bit. So sweet! :)

Happy 2 Month Birthday Kyan!!

Our Original Baby

Before Mckinley, before Kyan, we had a different life. A life with a special boy. His name? Maximus Hinton. He was our original baby. Life is different now. Slowly but surely Max has gotten pushed further and further down the totem pole. He now resides below both Mckinley and Kyan, but he is still one of our babies nonetheless (not quite equivalent too our other babies obviously, but still an important member of the family!).

Today Max is 5!

Happy Birthday Max!!!

You obviously still fit right in with the family!

Photo Shoots and BabyLegs!

Yesterday was a really fun day for our family. We were recently lucky enough to be asked to have our kiddos model in a catalog for the product BabyLegs. Long story short, I submitted their photos on a whim, before I knew it we were at a fitting, and then a couple weeks later (yesterday) at a photo shoot! It was incredibly fun for all of us. Mckinley got her hair and make-up done, dressed up in fun clothes, and then was off to the set! Kyan did the same minus the hair and make-up. :) Each of the kids were in a couple different shoots too!

We are told the catalog should be out in June and that we will get a copy of the pictures taken and the catalog itself! For now, we have some video that Kevin took to show off the day.

First here is a video of Mckinley in hair and make-up:

Then we have Mckinley's first shoot:

**At the end of this video you can see their crazy methods for getting kids to focus or smile. :)

And here is one of Kyan's shoots too:

I really wish I had video of Mckinley's second shoot because she was having so much fun. It was a snow related shoot and she got to play in fake snow with two other little girls. She had a blast!

When I get the pictures or catalog I will be sure to do an update, for now enjoy the videos!

PS

Submit your requests for autographs now people...I told you these kids are going to be BIG stars! :)

Tulips!

Tulips are by far my favorite flower (hint, hint for anyone who feels the urge to buy me some!). For years I have been trying to get Kevin and myself up to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. This year we finally did it, albeit it was our second attempt, but we made it nonetheless. Crazy traffic caused from the first 70 degree day in Seattle made it impossible for us to make it on our first attempt. However, it was WELL worth the wait.

It was amazing! Not only were the fields themselves crazy beautiful, but watching Mckinley splash with glee in mud puddles made it even more special. We had such a fun time and I can't wait to go back again next year and check out everything the festival has to offer.

Stomp, stomp!
More stomping!
Mckinley was super excited to look at the cows in this field...she was waving at mom though! :)
