Salt Dough

A little while ago I was reading a fellow mommyblogger's blog and came across a recipe for homemade play-dough. It seemed super easy and I thought Mckinley would love it, so this morning Mckinley and I embarked on our effort to make homemade "salt dough". It was actually about the easiest thing in the world to make.

Mckinley was reallying into helping--she is becoming such a big kid these days. We mixed up all the ingredients and Kinley picked yellow as her color of choice. Then we cooked it up and we were ready to play! I honestly think Mckinley was more into the cookie cutters than the dough itself but we'll get there!

Here is the recipe in case you are interested in trying out your own salt dough:

2 C Flour
1 C Salt
4 tsp Cream of Tartar
2 C Water
1/4 C oil
Food Coloring

Combine all ingredients in a pot and cook on medium. Stir until it has lost it's glossiness. It will be lumpy at this point. Dump out and knead until smooth.

Apparently this stuff will last for almost ever in the fridge too!
